Arun K. Saseendran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Sree Narayana Arts and Science College, Kumarakom. With an MA in Economics from Mahatma Gandhi University, where he was a topper from Government College Kottayam. He also completed another Post Graduation Master of Arts in Development Studies (MADVS) from IGNOU and he completed B.Ed. in Social Science, Arun is a NET-qualified educator with expertise in Tourism Economics and Development Economics. He has been with the college since 2010 and is actively involved in both academic and administrative roles.

Arun has published research on the socio-economic status of migrant workers in Kerala, with a special focus on Ernakulam and Performance Evaluation of Self Help Groups in Kottayam District. He has presented papers on tourism development, the role of commercial banks in Kerala’s economy, and networked hospitality in the tourism sector. His contributions have earned him several recognitions, including a Certificate of Merit from Mahatma Gandhi University for the Jaivam Project in 2018.

In addition to teaching, Arun plays a significant role in institutional governance as a member of the Syndicate and Board of Studies at Mahatma Gandhi University. He is also involved in community service through his work with the Kumarakom Vadakkumbhagam Service Co-Operative Bank and Kerala Aided College Teachers Co-operative Society. Arun is a former NSS Programme Officer and has been instrumental in organizing various Faculty Development Programmes, workshops, and seminars.

Currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the School of Development Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University, Arun’s academic interests extend to improving real-world outcomes through research in Development Economics. His leadership and dedication to both students and the broader community have made him a key figure in the academic and social landscape of the region.
