The Women Empowerment Cell at Sree Narayana Arts and Science College (SNASCWEC) is a dynamic initiative dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes gender equality, challenges stereotypes, and empowers women to reach their full potential. Our mission is to create a culture of equality, safety, and respect, where female students, faculty, and staff can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the college community.

Vision

To become a beacon of inspiration and change by promoting women's empowerment through education, awareness, and advocacy, and creating a gender-sensitive and inclusive campus ecosystem.

Objectives

• Empowerment through Education: Equip female students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to overcome societal challenges and barriers.
• Promote Gender Equality: Foster an inclusive community where equal opportunities are provided, and discrimination is actively challenged.
• Inspire Leadership: Cultivate leadership, entrepreneurship, and independence among women, empowering them to shape their futures.
• Build a Supportive Network: Offer resources, mentorship, and guidance to support personal and professional growth.
• Raise Awareness: Educate the campus community about gender issues, social responsibility, and rights to ensure a safer and more equitable environment.

Activities

●   Self-Defence Training

This initiative equips individuals, especially women, with practical techniques for self-protection in unsafe situations. Participants learn strategies for staying calm, making quick decisions, and building self-confidence, resilience, and empowerment.

●   Menstrual Health Awareness Programs

These programs foster health, inclusivity, and empowerment by dispelling myths around menstruation, encouraging better menstrual hygiene, and promoting sustainable menstrual products. This helps reduce stigma and promotes open conversations on menstrual health.

●   Awareness Classes on Women’s Health-Related Diseases

Classes provide essential information on conditions such as cervical cancer, breast cancer, polycystic ovary syndrome, menstrual disorders, and reproductive health. They promote early detection, preventive measures, and overall well-being.

●   Jail Visit

The jail visit offers insights into the challenges incarcerated women face, including social and economic factors that lead to incarceration. This interaction highlights rehabilitation programs such as skill-building, counseling, and health support.

●   Women’s Day Celebrations

We organize celebrations and honor ceremonies to recognize the achievements of women across various fields, highlighting the importance of gender equality and inspiring the college community.

The Admission Committee at Sree Narayana Arts and Science College, Kumarakom, serves as the administrative body overseeing admissions to the undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by the college. As the college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, all admission procedures are conducted in strict accordance with the university's guidelines.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

●   Promote Enrollment: Enhance admissions across programs through effective outreach and publicity initiatives.

●   Timely Notifications: Provide prompt updates on admission notifications issued by the relevant authorities to ensure applicants are well-informed.

●   Guidance and Support: Assist students and their parents throughout the admission process, providing clear instructions and support at each step.

●   Record Maintenance: Manage and organize student enrollment records for each program, ensuring accurate and accessible documentation.
