The Department of Physics was established in the year 2005 as one of the founding departments of the college. It has been offering a 3-year BSc program in Physics since its inception and, starting from the academic year 2024-25, is offering a 4-year BSc Physics Honours (Aided) program with specializations in Computational Physics and Space Physics.

 The department has a strong focus on science popularization and outreach, organizing regular talks, lectures, seminars, and workshops on various science topics. It is also actively involved in various science popularization and outreach programs through the college's science club. The Physics Association of the department is a vibrant body that actively participates in various curricular and extracurricular activities.

The Department has well-equipped laboratories and computing facilities to support students in their academic endeavors. The department boasts a team of skilled and experienced permanent faculty members and non-teaching staff.
